The Shadow
inspired by a fairytale
by Hans Christian Anderson and a play by Evgeny Schvartz

A naïve, idealistic scholar travels to a foreign land to finish his research about the existence of magic. He falls in love with his neighbor, a princess who lives incognito among her people, in search for her true love and the nation’s next king. Having no interest in being king, the scholar tries to convince the princess to leave the monarchy behind and live a simple life in his home country. When the scholar jokingly asks his shadow to climb up the princess’s wall and kiss her, he accidentally brings to life his complete opposite.
It’s up to the scholar and his only true friend, Annunciata, to fight the shadow’s corrupt influence on the royal court. They learn that magic isn’t discovered—it’s created by the choices we make.
